Tools to keep your green space thriving

We’ve been supporting the Harpurhey Neighbourhood Project Gardening Group by running growing sessions, teaching them greening skills and helping them to create some new raised planters.

To help them to continue their great work, we’ve developed a growing guide and maintenance plan which you can use in your community growing projects too!

During our sessions with the Harpurhey Gardening Group we noticed that members loved getting involved and growing their own food, but they shared a common challenge: not knowing what needs to be done in the garden without guidance.

To help them and other community groups to maintain their growing space we’ve developed a monthly growing guide which shares recommendations to keep the space looking at its best and a maintence plan where you can plan your tasks to stay on track:

We’ve also created a blank version of the maintenance plan for your group to shape!

The Gardening Group continues to meet weekly, using their maintenance plan (kept safe in the greenhouse!) to organise tasks and responsibilities. The members have found that these new tools not only keep the garden thriving, but also help them to learn more about growing food as each month goes by.

We hope these resources inspire more communities to grow with confidence.
